The most notable was her performance as the wife of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything that made her the recipient of an Oscar for the first time. The biopic is based on the scientist Stephen Hawking, and Jones was adored by both audiences and critics due to her superb performance as Hawking's wife. Inferno was the next film in which she appeared with Tom Hanks. In the year 2016 The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles named Jones to be the British Artist of The Year because of her talents and contribution to cinema.
